Hunt Information
• Youth hunters must fill out all required information. $10.00 application fee required per youth applicant. The application fee is non-refundable even if the hunt is cancelled or you are unable to participate. Adults need not apply for this hunt. For the youth hunt, only one (1) application per person will be accepted. If duplicates are found, the first received will be processed and all others will be removed from consideration. Application fees under these circumstances will not be returned.

• The youth hunt may be subject to limited participation for non-Lanai residents. If necessary, the public drawing will be held on December 5, 2025 at the J Cameron Center, MEO building located in Wailuku, HI at 10am. Successfully drawn applicants will be mailed an application card.

• A Lanai youth is defined as an individual who has lived on the island for six (6) continuous months and has a permanent mailing address.

• A youth hunter must be 15 yrs of age or younger prior to the start of the hunt, possess a valid 2025-26 State of Hawaii hunting license and be accompanied by an adult (18 yrs of age or older) who also possesses a valid 2025-26 State of Hawaii hunting license. Group size will be limited to one (1) youth and one (1) accompanying adult. A permit will be issued to the adult at the time of hunter check in.

• PERSONS APPLYING FOR THE YOUTH HUNTING SEASON WILL BE ALLOWED TO APPLY FOR AND MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE ARCHERY and either the GENERAL RIFLE OR MUZZLELOADER HUNTING SEASONS.

• The bag limit for the 2026 Lānaʻi axis deer season will be one (1) either sex axis deer per hunt applied and selected/drawn for. Additional axis deer doe tag(s) may be available based on aerial survey data. Tags are NOT transferable and are valid only for the specific hunt for which it was issued. See the hunt announcement and addendum for tag fees and other requirements.

• Youth hunters must report to the Lanai hunter check station the Thursday preceding their assigned hunt date or on Friday to check in, validate permits and receive assigned tags. To be validated, the permittee must show identification and sign the permit in the presence of an authorized officer of the Department of Land & Natural Resources and the officer must sign and date the permit. Permits for accompanying adults will be issued at this time.

• Check station hours will be from 8:00am to 6:00pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 and from 7:00am to 9:00am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Friday, March 6, 2026.

• Upon completion of the hunt, youth hunters must submit their permit to the Lanai hunter check station. If applicable, include sex and unit where animal(s) were harvested.

• For the Youth hunting season, Units 1 and 2 will be available for hunting from Friday through Sunday.

• Application period begins on Monday, October 13, 2025 and ends at 4:00pm Friday, November 14, 2025.

• Lottery results will be available on the internet at: www.dlnr.hawaii.gov/dofaw and on GoHunt, Hawaii (Announcements) by 4pm, Friday, December 5, 2025.

Lanai Cooperative Game Management Area (LCGMA)

The LCGMA is the area on the northwest portion of Lanai with the southernmost boundary extending from the western shore off of Kaumalapau Hwy and traveling east along said road to #57 road. From #57 road heading in a north-northeasterly direction along the former pineapple field to the junction of Polihua road and Ka'a Road. At the junction heading in a southeasterly direction to the Horse Pasture connecting to the Keomoku Road and following the said road to the northeastern shore of Lanai. The Kanepu'u Easement Area is excluded from the LCGMA.

• Each youth hunter shall be limited to carry one (1) bow, rifle, shotgun, or muzzleloader of .45 cal. or larger in the hunting area. Crossbows are prohibited, unless by permit. Handguns are not permitted.

• All youth hunters and accompanying adults must wear blaze orange.

• The youth will be the only hunter allowed to hunt. The adult will not be able to hunt as he/she is there to guide the youth in hunter ethics and safety.

• Hunting permits/tags are valid only for the specific hunt for which it was issued and may not be traded between hunters.

• Youth hunters must abide by the provisions of Chapter 123 when hunting on Lanai during the hunting season.

• Guides will not be required. Commercial guides are prohibited for this hunt.

• Hunters may bone the animal with the exception that a hind quarter must be tagged with genitalia and skin still attached.

• Any youth hunter encountering feral goats in the area may take these animals regardless of sex or number. An unused tag must be in their possession.
